ROSEMONT, Pa. — A gas leak was reported in Harriton High School’s physics wing, forcing students and staff to evacuate the building. It was later confirmed by Firefighters that it was not from a leak.
At approximately 12:45 pm, Harriton Vice Principal Dr. Stephanie Graziosi-Hibbs announced over the PA system: “…There is a strong smell of gas in the building. We will be calmly evacuating to the far edge of the turf field…”
All students were held in the bleachers for approximately 30 minutes. Students missed a majority of their set 6 class.

The Bryn Mawr Fire Company Firefighters promptly arrived at Harriton to shut off the gas valve supplying the hall.
Harriton Principal Mr. Stuart Warshawer confirmed to HarritonTV that it was in fact not a leak, rather a smell from something else.
“The fire department came, investigated and determined that the odor was not associated with a gas leak, searched the building, and determined it was safe for students to return.”
